What our Students are Saying About Us... “The Centre for Dreams is a unique environment that fosters the growth and development of members in the community of Markham to be a part of a great social and intellectual group. I have been volunteering at Dreams as a social work practicum student for almost a year now and have had the great pleasure of being a part of this team. Working with individuals living with developmental disabilities is a demographic that is not often in the forefront of social policy and media but is an important area that needs support. I am glad that I have had the opportunity to work here and see what gets done on the day to day. From having met individual members months ago, and seeing the progress that is made through the daily activities and curriculum has made my time worthwhile. Dreams has made monumental differences and positive changes in the lives of its members and should be applauded for their great work.” ~ Katie K. – York University BSW Student “The Centre for Dreams offered me a place to expand my learning beyond just theory. They gave me the opportunity to express what I have learned in post-secondary, but with the availability to have my own creative flare.” ~ Jessica E. – York University BSW Student “Working at The Centre for Dreams has been one of the most wonderful experiences in my life. It opened up my eyes to so many different aspects of life especially helping individuals with developmental disabilities.” ~ Shabeena I. “I have found that what some lack in some areas, they make up for in every other aspect. I have learned that there is nothing to be afraid of. People are people and as long as you interact with all clients in the same way and you treat them in a non-judgmental and respectful way, they will show the same to you.” ~Jessica M.
